April 16, 1967; Shoreline at NE corner of Ramey AFB, Puerto Rico

(BBU) Bet. 5 and 6 a.m. (EST).



USAF Airman/2nd Guillermo Padilla and Airman Henry, 72nd Bombardment Wing, SAC, saw a disc shaped object with two levels and a reddish band slightly above midsection, floating or hovering just above the water. Object went left to right and back a short distance then rose from right to left, and Padilla took a photo. Object reversed path and disappeared. (Tony Rullan)

Robert D. Williamson, Captain, USAF, Chief, Combat Intelligence Branch, 72d Bomb Wing (SAC). Comments: It is the opinion of the preparing officer that Airman Padilla and Henry are reliable and stable individuals. They are not the publicity seeking type. Airman Padilla was particularly concerned that the other people would think him a “Nut” if his sighting became public. After having discussed this sighting with other members of the Intelligence Division and letting the Prediction and Interpretation Section examine the 35 mm slide, this seems to be a creditable sighting incident.

UFO Education - Project Blue Book Unknowns

Glad to find this. I am doing a great deal of investigation on the 1967 Flap in South Florida and surrounding waters. I was there in 1967, a part of the NORAD defense system. It was one hell of a month.

This is a very interesting case and I'm glad you found the information useful.

I saw this picture years ago while doing some of my own research on objects that looked like the one I had a close encounter with .... but I never had a chance to dig further into this particular case until Frank Warren happen to post it over on the ATS forum back in 2011

As you can see in that thread, I did some quick searching and found the relevant case info that matched the picture  .... so the mystery was solved.

I would absolutely love to see the color version of the image and If you ever see or find the original color version please let me know.


You say you were there in South Florida and was one hell of a month ... so I have to ask ... can You elaborate on that or tell us more ? and did you have any sightings of your own ?

I was a radar fire control operator in Key West. We were part of NORAD, and primarily interested in watching Cuba. On March 31st of that year I, and the rest of the radars in the area, tracked 8 UFOs in two separate groups of 4. I sat on the incident for many years. I finally disclosed after retiring.

I now work with NICAP and MUFON. I am an archiver for NICAP, and a Florida State section director for MUFON. I also developed and run the MAST (MUFON Aerial Surveillance Team) program for MUFON.

The book about the 1967 sighting is called "Incident Over Miami". A very small book about a very large event. I didn't know how large an event until I began investigating it.

Well, that's my story. Name here is Bill Schroeder, Tampa, Fl.

I'm listening now and I have to say, this is very very interesting and I'm glad you decided to disclose this information. The radar-lock events you spoke about are fascinating to say the least and certainly reminiscent of the 1976 Tehran, Iran UFO Incident.


I guess the question is ... Since the two incidents (yours and the photo) are only about a month apart, Is it possible the object in the Ramey AFB picture is one of the 8 objects you encountered on the radar ??
